Onore is one of the most interesting and fancy centres of summer stay on the plateau, thanks to its nearness to Bergamo (39 Km), its surrounding environnment, its peace, its equipment and its inhabitants' politeness.

The built-up level land is placed at the foot of a south-facing natural slope, that is the  edge of an ancient ice-"terrace" that was about 50 m high at an altitude of 700 m.

The entire land is composed of floods and recent terraces that are severed by small morphological slopes from the actual alluvial areas of the two streams, about 20 m lower.

Mountain or hill reliefs are: monte Cornet m. 1429; punta Vallevrina m. 1401; cima di Campo m. 1365; altipiano Pù m. 841; altipiano di Falecchio m. 904.

The name ONORE comes from "alnus" (alder - "unés" in our dialect), the woody species that was widespread in this area, as in the whole Europe.

Indeed, there are other more recent hypothesis, according to which Onore comes from "Lanorium" (village of wool) and afterwards from "Honore" (body of the feud-owner's rights).

S. Maria Assunta Parish Church is the most important artistic building. It was built in the eighteenth century on a high ground at the entrance of the village. Its project was supposed to be made by Andrea Fantoni.

In 1909, under the Architect Elia Fornoni's direction, it was extended with an inner entrance hall.

The minor churches are interesting too: S. Antonio Abate, (along the route to "Val di Tede"), S. Antonio da Padova (area "Righensol").

Moreover on the face of a house a big fresco represents S. Alberto making hay.

The escutcheon of the village depicts the symbols of its ancient activity: at the top the spindles to spin the wool, at the bottom a wood of firs and a sheep that reminds of the agricultural past of the village.
