SONGAVAZZO

Songavazzo is the smallest village of Clusone plateau.
It is placed in the valley of Gera stream on the plateau of Falecchio, among wide meadows and woods.
Its territory includes also the deserted little valleys of Trebes and Frucc, and the altitude is 565 mt.
Probably "Summus Gavatio" rised in 1294, according to the date found in the most ancient document filed in the Town Hall.
In 1378 the village was destroyed by the "Ghibellini", together with Onore, the near village that was united to Songavazzo during all the Middle Ages.
Under the following Venetian control, there was a flourishing social and economic activity.
The eighties are characterised instead by
a strong building development, but the old town preserved its houses
with porches and wood loggias.
